Introduction
What is Paramiq and how the core workflow fits together.
Paramiq is a platform for creating parametric product configurators. You define parameters, write formulas that compute derived values, build specifications (bill of materials), and generate calculations for your customers.
Core Concepts
- Configuration — a parametric product model (e.g., a fence, a kitchen, a pergola).
- Parameters — inputs like width, height, material type.
- Calculations — formulas that derive values from parameters (area, price, quantity).
- Specification — the bill of materials with quantities and prices.
- Calculation (order) — a concrete instance with specific parameter values.
Workflow
- Create a configuration with parameters (inputs like width, height, material).
- Add calculations — formulas that derive values from parameters.
- Build a specification — the list of materials and nested configurations.
- Generate calculations (orders) — apply specific parameter values and get a priced BOM.
Editor Layout
The configuration editor uses a flexible panel layout. Click the Layout button in the toolbar to choose a preset: Two Columns, Three Columns, Split Right, Quad View, or Focus (single panel). Each panel can display any content type — Parameters, Calculations, Specification, BOM Preview, Live Preview, 3D Viewport, or Nested Configs — use the panel header dropdown to switch.
Templates
Paramiq includes a curated template gallery across categories like Fencing, Outdoor, Furniture, Structural, and Openings. Templates pre-fill parameters, calculations, specification items, and 3D rules so you can start from a realistic draft instead of a blank editor.
Use the AI assistant (Ctrl+K) to generate entire configurations from a text description, or start from a template and customize it.
