AI Assistant
Use AI to generate full configurations, formulas, single parameters, BOM items, 3D rules, and import from files.
Paramiq includes an AI assistant powered by Claude and Gemini that helps with the practical parts of building configurators: generating a full configuration from a description, refining formulas inline, creating one parameter or one BOM item at a time, importing source files, and creating initial procedural 3D rules.
Capabilities
- Formula assistance — describe a calculation in plain language and get a formula. Works inline next to each formula field.
- Inline formula diagnostics — syntax highlights, active argument context, and safe quick fixes help you correct obvious mistakes before you ask AI.
- Parameter generation — describe one parameter and get one typed parameter suggestion with defaults and constraints.
- BOM assistance — describe one component line and get one specification/BOM item suggestion with formulas.
- Full configuration generation — describe your entire product and get parameters, calculations, and specification in one step.
- Inline editing — multi-turn chat for refining individual fields (formulas, conditions, default values).
- File import — upload TXT, CSV, XLSX, DOCX, PDF, or image files. Text-like files are parsed into text first; images use vision OCR.
- 3D visualization rules — from the 3D panel, let AI generate initial procedural geometry/material rules for existing material specification items.
What AI Is Best At Today
- Creating the first version of a configuration from a textual product description.
- Helping you write or fix formulas when you already know the business logic.
- Turning structured source material (tables, specs, catalogs) into an editable configuration draft.
- Creating the first pass of 3D rules when your BOM already contains the main visual items.
Current Limits
- Parameter generation currently adds one parameter at a time, not a whole parameter set.
- BOM assistance currently adds one specification item at a time.
- Scanned PDFs are weaker than text PDFs. For scanned documents, upload page images for better OCR results.
- 3D AI generates initial procedural rules. You should still review dimensions, placement, and material assignments before shipping.
Keyboard Shortcuts
- Ctrl+K (Cmd+K) — open AI configuration generator dialog (multi-turn, with diff preview).
- Ctrl+I (Cmd+I) — open import wizard (text or image import with AI extraction).
- Ctrl+Space (Cmd+Space) — open formula autocomplete (variables, calculations, functions).
- Ctrl+J (Cmd+J) — open formula snippet picker (math, logic, and text function templates).
- Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z (Cmd) — undo / redo (30-entry history).
- Ctrl+S (Cmd+S) — save configuration.
- AI buttons in each section — generate items specific to that section.
Multi-Turn Generation
The AI configuration generator (Ctrl+K) supports iterative refinement. After the first generation, you can describe changes in a follow-up message — the AI will modify the existing configuration rather than starting from scratch. A diff preview shows exactly what will change before you apply.
Import Flow
Import is a two-stage flow. First Paramiq extracts text from the uploaded file. Then AI converts that extracted content into parameters, calculations, and specification items. This means structured spreadsheets and text PDFs usually work better than noisy scans, and image uploads are best for photos or scanned pages.
Language Behavior
AI prompts are designed to answer in the language you use and, for imports, to preserve the language of the source file instead of silently translating your labels.
Tips for Better Results
- Be specific — "calculate the number of fence louvers given total height and louver width with 5mm gap" is better than "calculate louvers".
- Mention your parameters — the AI knows your existing parameters and can reference them.
- Iterate — use multi-turn chat to refine the result step by step.
- Review generated formulas — always verify the AI output before using it.
Usage Limits
AI requests are counted per month and vary by plan. Import operations (text and vision OCR) have separate limits. Check Settings for your current usage.
The AI assistant has full context of your current configuration — it knows all parameters, calculations, and specification items, so you can refer to them by name.
